Being diagnosed with a neurological condition often means so much more than a change in your health.
You may feel you can no longer work in the ways you used to, or worry about workplace discrimination.
The Brain Charity’s staff can explain your rights. We can help you talk to your employer about reasonable adjustments.
We can also point you to specialist legal advice if you have a grievance or have faced unfair dismissal due to your health or disability.
Get in touch with us by emailing employment@thebraincharity.org.uk.
What we can help with
If you’re currently in employment, The Brain Charity can advise on:
- The reasonable adjustments your employer should make to accommodate your new needs. These may include additional breaks, reduced hours or workload, flexible hours and specialist software or equipment.
- Information on your legal rights and options around changing your role, travel to the workplace or early retirement.
- Benefits, paperwork and advocacy for people balancing employment with a caring role.
- Applying for Access to Work funding, which will pay for practical support for you to do your job, or communication support at job interviews.
- What you may need to provide to be able to claim Statutory Sick Pay (SSP).
