CADASIL is an inherited vascular illness which affects the arteries and veins and can lead to dementia.
What causes CADASIL?
CADASIL is caused by the inheritance of a faulty gene from one parent and it causes the blood vessels to thicken which blocks the blood flow in the brain. It causes mild strokes which damage the brain tissue.

The symptoms of CADASIL include:

- Weakness of one side of the body
- Slurred speech
