Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition which affects the brain and gets worse over time.
What causes Parkinson’s?
Parkinson’s develops when nerve cells in the brain die and stop producing dopamine, which controls movement.
What are the symptoms of Parkinson’s?
People with Parkinson’s will typically see changes in how they talk, walk, swallow and write.
The three main symptoms of Parkinson’s are:
- A tremor (an uncontrollable movement that affects a part of the body, usually while at rest)
- Rigidity (the muscles becoming stiff or inflexible)
- A slowness of movement
